Movie Review: Zodiac

David Fincher’s latest offering 'Zodiac', comes with the tagline 'There’s more than one way to lose your life to a killer'. And that’s essentially what the movie is about as it shows how three men, a police officer, a reporter and a cartoonist become obsessed with a killer who calls himself 'Zodiac'. Working closely with Robert Graysmith, the actual cartoonist involved in the case, Fincher comes up with a nearly three hour long period piece based mainly on actual police files. In an attempt to catch the killer logically, they gradually start to unravel themselves, which is what the fascination of the movie is. As they pursue the killer, they battle not only the killer but also the system, each other and even themselves.
Demanding patience but offering no reward for it in terms of closure, as the case was never solved, the movie invites the viewer to enjoy the process itself. For those who can do it, a must-see movie. For those looking for a quick-fix, Ghost Rider is playing next door.
